Because Kelly Cutrone told me that you are nothing if you don't have a web presence, I have created a temporary website while my fancy schmany website is being built. I actually rather like this one and am proud that I made it all by myself. Of course, wix helped. I love wix. We made our wedding website through wix too and it was amazing. They are always adding new fonts and backgrounds and fun flash-y stuff! They should give me a free upgrade for loving them so much (hint hint).

Weekend Flowers: Tulips and Alley Ways

I have a hard time going to the farmer's market and not buying flowers. I only spent $10 and got a bunch of peach and white ranunculus, tulips and eucalyptus. Then I took my puppy for a walk through the alleys in our neighborhood and gathered some jasmine vines and other greens.

Floral Inspiration: Still Life
I'm kind of obsessed with floral still life paintings right now. Especially the work of Arnoldus Bloemer (appropriate name, no?) and Cornelis de Heem. They are completely different from one another but I love Bloemer's vibrant colors and Heem's contrasts against the black backdrops.

DIY: Cake Pan Centerpieces
I love this idea of using bundt cake pans as vases for centerpieces. BrancoPrata is another design team whose work makes me drool.

La Partie Events
There are a few folks in the design/floral biz whose work I admire and completely adore. Megan of La Partie Events is one of those people. Her work is just totally chic and gorgeous but remains simple and understated at the same time. I am crazy about this photo shoot she did with Sandra Pan Photography using CB2 products. I have a few CB2 plates I have been wanting to use in a shoot and now I am completely inspired. Plus I am kind of mad for stripes.

Weekend Flowers: Roses and Milk Glass

On Friday night I worked this performance for my "day job" job. The conductor and soloist both received bouquets of flowers following the concert. Sometimes if I'm lucky the musicians don't want to travel with their flowers and I get to take them home. Such was the case this weekend and I had fun rearranging the bouquets into the new milk glass collection I started. One of the bouquets came from Whole Foods and were supposedly locally grown. I typically like to work exclusively with flowers from locals farms and growers but re-purposing someone else's flowers feels less like cheating.
