Mismatched Wedding Party Done Right

{image by Armosa Studios}

I love love love when the wedding party has pretty much complete creative freedom over their wedding day attire. Most likely these are the couple's best friends and they love them because of who they are, right? So why, oh, why do we insist on making them look like a little army of matching satin soldiers? There is just something so special about letting each person's personality shine through (and I'm sure they will appreciate being able to pick a shape that flatters their figure). If you're worried about it not looking cohesive enough or not matching the decor then come up with a theme (rock n' roll chic or casual elegance, for example) or a color scheme. The bridal party from this wedding recently featured at Southern Weddings is the PERFECT example of a mismatched bridal party. The outfits aren't all over the place but each girl looks comfortable and beautiful!

Inspiration: little blossoms

This Spring I keep thinking of little blossoms. My mind has been wandering to my trip to San Francisco last year with my sister and all the cherry blossoms. And my favorite color to pair with cherry blossom pink? Definitely mint. Just like my all time favorite Sarah Seven dress!

Brand Spankin' New Temporary Website

Because Kelly Cutrone told me that you are nothing if you don't have a web presence, I have created a temporary website while my fancy schmany website is being built. I actually rather like this one and am proud that I made it all by myself. Of course, wix helped. I love wix. We made our wedding website through wix too and it was amazing. They are always adding new fonts and backgrounds and fun flash-y stuff! They should give me a free upgrade for loving them so much (hint hint).

Weekend Flowers: Tulips and Alley Ways

I have a hard time going to the farmer's market and not buying flowers. I only spent $10 and got a bunch of peach and white ranunculus, tulips and eucalyptus. Then I took my puppy for a walk through the alleys in our neighborhood and gathered some jasmine vines and other greens.

Floral Inspiration: Still Life

I'm kind of obsessed with floral still life paintings right now. Especially the work of Arnoldus Bloemer (appropriate name, no?) and Cornelis de Heem. They are completely different from one another but I love Bloemer's vibrant colors and Heem's contrasts against the black backdrops.
A still life of peonies, roses, honeysuckle, poppies, a crown imperial, rhododendrons and other flowers in a terracotta urn on a ledge by Arnoldus Bloemer.

DIY: Cake Pan Centerpieces

I love this idea of using bundt cake pans as vases for centerpieces. BrancoPrata is another design team whose work makes me drool.

When do we eat cake?

I am kind of in love with this wedding timeline. I love a couple who has their priorities in order!
