Utterly Engaged!

I have been waiting (not quite patiently) for the latest issue of Utterly Engaged BECAUSE we have big features in it!  Not only did they ask me to be a part of their Fresh Vendor series but the super rad, cheeky modern photo shoot that I worked on with Kira Grinberg (along with a few other crazy talented folks!) is featured in it!

I'll share more pictures from the shoot tomorrow but for now head on over to Utterly Engaged!!!

Real Wedding: Emma and Mark

Emma + Mark came to me a couple months before their wedding at Condor's Nest Ranch and asked for my help.  They had taken on a lot of tasks and had even more projects that they just didn't have time to start never mind complete.  I loved all their ideas and happily came on board to take over what they had started, come up with a few new design elements and coordinate the whole event.  The result was a super sweet, pretty-in-pink, love fest.  Your Inner Song captured everything so beautifully!  You check out more over at The Wedding Chicks!

For the confetti, I punched out HUNDREDS of little flower shapes out of pink, white, yellow and tan tissue paper, popped it onto a dowel and tied it with red and white baker's twine.

Bonnie Nikolai created all the beautiful, lush floral arrangements.  Since the boys took all the barrels for the kegs we had to quickly improvise by using the smudge pots at the ranch which I actually like even better!  We tied pink poms with twine on each chair.

Emma had already made the burlap runners and I hand-stitched doilies to rest on top.  We tied EVERY napkin with a little gold doily, a button and baker's twine.  The ranch has an awesome collection of vintage plates, silver ware and mason jars that we got to use.  My husband and I also tied 450' of white papel picado around the entire reception area.

I made over a hundred doily escort badges which was probably the most time-consuming project.  Each one consists of 4 folded doilies, a kraft paper circle, a button, a pin and name tag!  It was worth it to see everyone wearing their badge around!

Guests wrote well wishes on doily hearts and were greeted with Pimm's cocktails in a mason jar complete with a cute little drink stirrer!

The dessert table was probably my favorite part!  Emma made ALL the cake and pie pops that morning as well as the trifles.  We made a backdrop of paper garlands, pinwheels and globes and it just glowed at night.

In The Knot!

 {photos by Corbin Gurkin via The Knot}

I got a nice surprise over the weekend when I learned that Erin and Chuck's wedding is featured in the Spring issue of The Knot!  I coordinated their wedding in 2009 as well as baked the cupcakes.  Since their celebration was pretty much completely DIY we were busy little bees that day arranging flowers, setting up all the decor, frosting cupcakes and coordinating like crazy!  See more from Erin and Chuck's rustic, vintage affair on Once Wed here!

The Cost of Wedding Planning

I just read a super smart, well-written article from Shayna of Williamsburg Wedding Design about the price of wedding planning and what the bang really is that you're getting for your buck.  This is not about what a wedding planner should cost but an overview of what goes into determining the cost of planning packages and what you are really getting out of it.  Most likely a newly engaged couple has never thought about wedding planning and coordination before their engagement so have no clue how much one will cost when they start asking around for quotes.  The truth is a day-of wedding coordinator doesn't just show up on your wedding day for a few hours (I hope!!!).  There are hours and hours of prep time and getting to know you time that is involved which makes up the base of the cost on top of...ya know...regular ol' business/life costs.  Anyway...before you go out on the wedding planner hunt go read Shayna's post and download her awesome booklet.  You'll be able to make a much more informed and rational decision that will effect the outcome of your wedding day immensely!
