Inspiration Board: Hot Pink Vintage

I made this inspiration board for a super fun wedding I am working on. I can't WAIT for this party. It is going to be incredible. LOTS of hot pink, doilies, streamers, hay bales and, oh did I mention, it is at a little place called the Condor's Nest Ranch?

La Jolla Vintage Baby Shower

Remember this board? Well, I can finally reveal the photos by my super talented friend Aimee of Captured by Aimee. I have been waiting so long because I was hoping that one of my favorite blogs of all time - The Sweetest Occasion - would like it enough to post it. Well, today is a really good day because it is up! The mommy-to-be (now the mommy of an adorable baby boy, Max) loves the color combination blue and tan so I started with that for our inspiration along with an eclectic vintage feel. I paired boyish stripes with pretty floral patterns for the table runners along with my collection of milk glass full of big, fluffy pink peonies.

Baby Shower I

Erin Ever After designed the most adorable invites for the party along with our sign for the guest book table. Guests signed sweet blue hearts and dropped them into the bird cage full of blue tulle.

Baby Shower II

A big tub served as our beverage cooler. The host and mother of the father-to-be saw it and brought down the cutest photo of him as a baby in an identical tub! So cute!

Baby Shower III

Guests wore name tags with fuzzy animal stickers and drank mimosas and fruit punch of baby bottles with barber straws.

Baby Shower V

Along with the decor, I whipped up some cupcakes (preferred dessert of the new mommy) and they were served on the sweetest antique plates.

Flea Market Finds

{all photos via (oh, hello friend.)}

This past weekend I had my first Rose Bowl Flea Market experience. I was not quite prepared for the number of vintage/antique vendors and great finds there were. Next time I will certainly have to borrow a truck. We had to leave a couple gems behind for lack of space. I would also get there much earlier. We arrived around 1pm and it had just started to drizzle so a lot of vendors were packing up. I did manage find a good deal on some milk glass.

This would be heaven for anyone who wants to incorporate vintage pieces into their wedding or event. If you can dream it up - old bottles, chandeliers, metal signs/numbers - I'm sure it's there!

There was a beautiful vintage suitcase for $20. Why didn't I grab it when I had the chance?

Yellow VW bus, floral dress and a vintage dress. Perfection! Sarah Rhoads is starting to become one of my favorite photographers.

Vintage Bottles

{design*sponge}
Can we just stop and talk about my sick obsession with vintage bottles. I grew up in a 200+ old house and every once and awhile we would unearth a treasure in our backyard so they totally remind me of my childhood home. Here are just a few images I have been collecting over the past few months.

Weekend Flowers: Tulips and Alley Ways

I have a hard time going to the farmer's market and not buying flowers. I only spent $10 and got a bunch of peach and white ranunculus, tulips and eucalyptus. Then I took my puppy for a walk through the alleys in our neighborhood and gathered some jasmine vines and other greens.

Weekend Flowers: Roses and Milk Glass

On Friday night I worked this performance for my "day job" job. The conductor and soloist both received bouquets of flowers following the concert. Sometimes if I'm lucky the musicians don't want to travel with their flowers and I get to take them home. Such was the case this weekend and I had fun rearranging the bouquets into the new milk glass collection I started. One of the bouquets came from Whole Foods and were supposedly locally grown. I typically like to work exclusively with flowers from locals farms and growers but re-purposing someone else's flowers feels less like cheating.

Also, a sample bouquet and centerpiece for a possible client.

Am I Dreaming?

If I am, PLEASE don't wake me up! My cake and cupcakes photographed by the goddess of photography - Noa of Feather Love - and posted on 100 Layer Cake??? I die. My jaw was just sitting on my desk as I looked at this super rad wedding. Lindsey and Bryce are just the sweetest, cutest couple ever and their personalities shown through on their day. Congrats you two!Lindsey and Bryce chose four flavors - Chocolate-Covered Banana, Tres Leches, Dilly Dilly and Whiskey and Beer (the cake was Whiskey and Beer as well).

Inspiration Board: European Garden with an East Coast Flair

I am really excited to be planning the wedding of our dear, dear friends in September. They have been so good to us since we moved to Southern California from finding our first apartment to letting us (and our dog and cat) crash in their guest room when our house flooded (I was actually napping in the guest room when he proposed!). They are the best friends anyone could ask for and I am thrilled that they have let me be a part of their big day!
Sarah & Chaz
Being East Coast transplants like us they wanted some "east coast flair" at their San Diego wedding. What better way to incorporate the east coast than bringing in those great New England, autumn colors? We've also found inspiration from her Italian roots and the PHENOMENAL reception location - Old Venice Restaurant - and will incorporate an old world European garden feel. I sent over this shoot from Once Wed and they were immediately smitten with the wild garden/autumn colors. Then I saw these program fans from Design Sponge and they are perfect! Their cats, Putty & Socks, are their babies so it is only natural that we would have them be part of the ceremony!
